Craftsman Structure Kits

The Simpson Models line of HO, S, 1/4" (O) and 1/2" scale craftsman structures use laser-cutting technology, scale lumber, plastic, brass, and white metal detail parts as appropriate.  These kits are as close to scratch built quality as possible with all the difficult parts supplied.  Each and every kit includes custom manufactured detail parts appropriate for the specific prototype.  These kits represent the state of the art craftsman quality.  No finer quality product exists.

Rolling Stock Kits

Rolling stock have always been used to handle the bulk of business for railroads and the West Side Lumber Company was no exception. Cargo moving in boxcars (reefers), logs being transported on logging cars, diesel fuel and gasoline moving in tank cars, and machinery or other big loads moving on flatcars, were longtime mainstays of West Side. In this category you’ll find the common cars mentioned above, plus more specialized freight cars such as work and maintenance and the caboose, mostly absent on today’s trains, are all part of the mix you’ll find in HO, S, O and other scales rolling stock.

Trackwork

If handlaid track is what you like to do, we have a lot of tools and parts to help make this effort go easier.

All track gauges are turned from round brass stock in 1/4", 5/16", and 3/8" diameters.  Extremely accurate: turned to -0+0.001 inch tolerances.  Complies with all standards established by the NMRA.

Plan Packs

Drawn and reproduced in various common modeling scales, as necessary, to clarify details and to fit standard paper sizes.  Drawings range from schematic for some structures to board by board, nut and bolt level of detailing.  Plans precisely illustrate all information necessary to build accurate models.  Compiled from original field notes taken from the actual prototypes when available.

Decals

Simpson Models decals are printed on ultra-thin decal material and have great strength and flexibility, enabling them to conform to irregular surfaces.  Decals for West Side Lumber Company (WSLC) and Denver & Rio Grande Western (D&RGW) equipment are available.
